April 27, 2017

World Dance Day, was celebrated in our school with a special assembly. There were performances by our dance teachers, followed by a simultaneous dance by the entire school.

We celebrated Earth Day with a special assembly. All the students were allowed to wear green t-shirts, to mark the day.

April 7 , 2017

A special assembly was held to celebrate Founder’s Day. The karamcharies presented a cultural programme. The assembly was followed by sports for the Karamcharis.

An orientation programme was held for the new batch of nursery. Sessions on parenting and the school’s curriculum were conducted by the headmistress, the counsellor and the nursery teachers.

February 24 , 2017

Class IV celebrated Gujarat Day this month, as part of their Social Studies curriculum. The children and teachers were dressed in Gujarati outfits and the auditorium was full of vibrant colors. Children from each section presented a topic of their choice, related to the state. This was followed by a briefing by our Gujrati guests, who happen to be our parents too. They taught the children and the teachers few steps of Garba . Everybody enjoyed dancing to the tune of Guajarati music. Later, the children were served traditional snacks like dhokla, jalebi and bhakarwadi. In the second half, each section took turns to fly kites in the field. They also did craft-work by making Bandanvaars in their respective classrooms. The day ended with a creative writing session in which the children wrote about their experience of Gujarat Day

January 25 , 2017

Republic Day was celebrated in school as a field event. The function was along the lines of the Delhi Republic Day parade. The celebrations started with the hoisting of the National Flag by Col. Dang and the National Anthem being sung by all in attendance. Class V recreated the magic of Rajpath by doing the March Past. It was followed by a melodious prayer - Jai Jan Bharat sung by the school choir. Keeping up to the spirit was the motivational song Kadam Kadam Bhadhayi Ja. Then we had some well synchronized drills and power-packed displays of dumbbells and Taekwondo. The highlight of the program was a colourful presentation of dance and music by the students of Classes IV and V on the song THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND. The celebrations ended with all the participants enthusiastically cheering and singing the very famous and very patriotic – Saare Jaahan Se Accha

Kathkatha Theatre Group performed a non-verbal musical puppet show for the students of classes Prep – V, called ‘Dinosaur’. The story was about a small dinosaur, who couldn’t find his mother and mistakenly starts taking the first dinosaur at sight to be his mother.

A Odissi cum belly dancing recital by Ms. Nitisha Nanda was organized for classes II – V. The event started with a lecture demonstration of the dance, followed by the actual performance.

The Christmas Assembly was presented by class IVC. The assembly was a blend of dancing and singing and lots of Christmas carols.

Activity Week 2015 was a six day celebration from the 23 rd of December till the 30 th . It is a week devoted to learning, fun and enjoyment. Special activities, field trips and workshops are organized.

December 13 , 2016

Laughter yoga is accepted as an effective strategy to reduce stress, strengthen the immune system and relax the body, both for adults and children. Moreover, it helps us to laugh at ourselves. As we have seen cases of childhood anxiety increasing over the years, we introduced hasya yoga sessions in the school assembly. Both teachers and children laughed heartily and everyone left the assembly with a smile.

The children of class V presented the play ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. The chocolaty tale of young Charlie Bucket and the mysterious confectioner Willy Wonka unfolds and comes to life in this play. The play had music, dance and drama. The highlight of the play were the puppets. Most of them were made and operated by the children themselves. The play was directed by Ms. Anurupa Roy of Katkatha puppet theatre.

A special assembly by the staff was conducted to celebrate Children’s Day. The assembly had a blend of singing, dancing and a play. The children seemed to enjoy the program.
An Athletic Meet was held for all classes to celebrate Children’s Day

The Diya festival is a regular feature of the Diwali celebrations that happens in the school. The children painted diyas and made simple but beautiful rangolis.

Inter-section cricket matches were held for classes 4 and 5. The winning class were V A and IV A.

An interactive workshop was conducted by Dr. Kavita Arora (Child Adolescent Psychiatrist) on the topic “Parents and Us: Bridges That Need Building”.

October 15 , 2016

First term report card day was held on October 15. As is done each year, a 50 students’ ‘Volunteer Squad’ was made, to monitor the registration & announcement desks, and to escort parents to the classrooms. The attractive display of books by Scholastic at the Book Fair and the stalls put up by the two NGO’s ‘Goonj’ and ‘Prabhat’, were a big success.

October15 , 2016

The Science Fair was conducted for classes 4 and 5. About 45 children participated in displaying various experiments and projects. Many parents (of both participating and non-participating children) visited the science room and appreciated the work done by the children. The participating children enjoyed showing off their work. They were rewarded with a package of some candy, a neon pencil, a sharpener and a scale as an immediate token of appreciation of their work.

Sanskar Rang Toli (Theatre in Education Co) of The National School of Drama, performed a non-verbal musical puppet show called ‘Across the Sea’, for the students of classes Prep – II. It was about an adventure which takes a baby penguin from Antarctica across the sea to Africa and also about how he meets many new & strange creatures and makes friends, who help him in getting back to his family. Students were seen enjoying themselves thoroughly.

Class IV B presented a special assembly on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti in the school. The assembly started with one of Gandhi Ji’s favourite Bhajans, “Raghupati Raghav” followed by a play centred around the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi. There were a few more songs sung beautifully by the class choir. It culminated with a very well-choreographed dance on the song “Bande me tha dum, Vande Mataram”. The children performed with great energy and enthusiasm. It was a befitting tribute to the father of our nation.

A story telling session was organized in our school for classes I and II by well-known story teller and author Vinita Zutshi. Her body language, expressions and style were enthralling and gripping enough to have the children asking for more.

Class V celebrated Japan Day. The day began with an assembly which featured songs and dances from Japan. This was followed by presentation on Japan by students. Other activities included an origami work shop, and the making of Onigiri – a well-known Japanese dish. The day ended with an inter-class baseball match. The children were dressed in kimonos and were seen enjoying themselves thoroughly.

Teachers' Day was celebrated. The day began with a special presentation, by a few of our teachers. Special arrangements were made for the students of classes V along with the teachers to listen to the President’s address to the students, which was a special telecast for the day. After the children went home, the teachers went out for lunch.

August 15 , 2016

A flag hoisting ceremony was conducted. It was attended by teachers, students, karamcharies, and ex-students, along with their families. Patriotic songs and poems gave the Independence Day holiday an appropriate start.

August 12 , 2016

The Independence Day celebrations started with a prabhat pheri in which the entire school participated. While the younger children walked through the school singing patriotic songs, class IV walked around the neighbourhood, surrounding the school, waving flags and singing songs. The National Flag was hoisted by Mrs. Roy. This was followed by an assembly based on the life of Bhagat Singh, presented by class 4 A.
Lots of activities were organized in the school. They were
- Community service activities in the neighborhood by class III
- Laddoo making and serving to the rest of the school, by the students of class V
- Students of classes II and IV watched the Patriotic movies

August 9 , 2016

In the memory of The Quit India Movement which started on 8 August, 1942, class IV A children marched in procession holding placards and calling out slogans. The assembly ended with the singing of 'Vandemataram'. This event mark the begining of the week-long celebrations before Independence Day

August 3 , 2016

Hiroshima Day commemorated on 6 August 1945, the day when an atomic bomb was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, followed a few days later by another bomb dropped on the city of Nagasaki. A special assembly was conducted in the school to mark this day.

A felicitation ceremony was held to award all those students who won in the Young Writers Essay Competition, held on May 6, in our school. Ms. Vinita Zutshi, a writer and a storyteller was invited to give away the trophy and certificates. Students from the winning schools along with their teachers had come to be a part of the ceremony. The school which received the trophy was - Raghubir Singh Junior Modern School. Lekha Shriram from Shri Ram School, Vasant Vihar and Saanya Anand from Vasant Valley School, Vasant Kunj, received merit certificates for the best English and Hindi essays, respectively.

July 5 , 2016

Van Mohotsav was celebrated. An assembly was conducted to mark the occasion focussing on the planting trees. Class 5 children were given a small plant each to carry home.

May 6 , 2016

Cambridge Young Writers' inter-school essay competition was held in our school. Children from 20 schools participated in the event. Each school sent two participants in the English and two in the Hindi category.
