  Dear parents,

It’s time for the annual Science Fair for classes II & III at Cambridge Primary School, New Friends Colony on the 25th of March, 2017.

The science fair is an opportunity for our little scientists to share the simple phenomena they are curious about & explore in their daily lives.

Participating does not mean makingcomplicated models or doing big experiments.  The child should be able to do a project with help and guidance from you and should be able to understand what they have done / shown. This is not meant to be a competition. Participation is voluntary and will not be marked. Some experiment ideas are given in the Science Fair instructions (on the school website) and many ideas can be taken from our daily lives, books and the internet. Please read the instructions as given on the school website for a complete picture of what is expected from the participants.
We understand that this will be a family project and the children will most likely need parental guidance and assistance in preparing their projects – gathering material, making display boards, etc. Please do support your child but let it be an effort that the child can relate to and be able to speak about on her own. Neat presentation on the display board is very important. Non-self supporting displays will not be entered. THERMOCOL DISPLAY BOARDS/ MODELS ARE NOT ALLOWED.

July, 2016

  Dear parents,

Parts of Assam, MP and Uttarakhand are facing massive floods, causing wide scale devastation and loss of life and belongings. Many other states are on high alert, given the increased water levels in many rivers.

Not much is being covered by the national media but the ground realities do need urgent action. The situation is grim even after the water has receded in many places.

Among the many organizations that are working in these parts, Goonj is well known to us and is making a huge effort to collect and bring essential items to the flood hit areas. Do join this 'Rahat Floods' campaign by Goonj and let's do whatever we all can….

The need of the hour is material.

The following items may be sent to the school:

Clothes (of all age groups), tarpaulins & ropes, blankets, solar lights, mosquito nets, dry-ration (rice, pulses, spices etc.), bed sheets & curtains, utensils, buckets & mugs, water purifier tabs, torches, umbrellas & raincoats, crutches, candles, toiletries & sanitary pads, school material etc.

    Monetary help:
  • Cash amounts smaller than Rs.500/- may be brought to school (similar to Friday Collection).
  • Contributions more than Rs. 500/- may be  made to Goonj directly on the online portal for monetary contributions - http://goonj.org/page_id=22576/

Please do contribute and motivate others to join the campaign.  All monetary donations made to Goonj are exempt under Section 80G (5) (VI) of the Income Tax Act 1961.You can also write to mail@goonj.org for any details you require. For more information, please keep an eye on  –  FacebookTwitterWebsite

Whatever you can help with will be deeply appreciated! Thank you!

E-WASTE  - This INDEPENDENCE DAY!

August, 2015

PLEASE DON’T JUST THROW YOUR ELECTRONIC DEVICES BUT DISCARD THEM RESPONSIBLY!

Dear students, parents/guardians and staff members,

In our continuing effortsat being environment friendly,we are schedulingour next E-Waste driveof the academic year with CHINTAN’s help:

  • ‘E-waste’ isdiscarded electrical or electronic devices. This includes old cell phones, chargers, computers, laptops, mobile phones, microwaves, fax machines and other electronic equipment. When we are done using them, electronic waste needs to be discarded carefully.
  • If e-waste is not collected & recycled appropriately, it can result in toxic emissions & pollution. Unauthorized recyclers use acid baths, cyanide, etc. to recycle, producing deadly pollutants like dioxins.
  • Current government rules allow only authorized agencies to collect e-waste. CHINTAN isone such organization in Delhi.
  • The biggest challenge with e-waste recycling is that bulk of the electronic waste (produced by us) is unable to reach authorized recyclers resulting in pollution due to ‘anti-environment’ recycling.
  • Chintan collects e-waste from multiple sources, such as you and me, and sends it to an authorized recycling factory.
  • SO PLEASE DROPall your e-waste during the drive in the special bins provided in Cambridge Primary School, NFC:
  • Days of the drive: 10th of August to 21stof August, 2015.
  • Time for dropping: Between 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. & after 1:30 p.m.
  • You may send items that can be easily/safely carried with your child in a paper or cloth bag.
  • Please carry your school I.D. Card in case you wish to drop the waste yourself. Bins will be provided at easily accessible areas in school.
  • At the end of this, we will share with you how much you have collected.
  • Last season we collected over 125Kg! Thank you!

So let’s discard electronic items in an environment friendly way. Chintan will not only dispose/recycle your e-waste non-toxically, it will provide livelihood for the poor in the process.
For questions please contact: 011-2631 5060 or 9899287029.

  Dear parents,

As we all know the tragedy that hit Nepal has left many without family and homes. To add to their difficulties, the cold nights and the general devastation around is adversely impacting their very survival even after the quake. There is an URGENT & DESPERATE need for many items such as sleeping bags, tents, blankets, food & Medicines.

There are many organizations that are collecting help from people like you and me (those who cannot go to Nepal and offer our help, physically). Please send your help to such an organization and do your little bit.

One such organization has contacted our school. FAMILY VISION FOUNDATION is doing the noble and difficult task of taking essential items, as those mentioned above, to Nepal. We only have to do a small bit – contribute, however small, an amount of cash, which will enable Family Vision to purchase these essential items. Thus, we can help humanity in our own little way. However little it might be, when put together, the many ‘little helps’ will add up to a ‘big’ help! Please contribute whatever you can.

  • Cash amounts less than Rs.700/- may be brought to school (similar to Friday Collection).
  • Amounts of Rs.700/- or greater may be sent
    • as cheques in favour of Family Vision Foundation to our school OR
